Funkita X George Rose
George Rose is a Melbourne based artist best known for her large-scale murals and she has now splashed her incredible signature colours onto our Funkitas. As part of the new Flying Start collection, George has painted 4 prints in various colourways which you can shop here. Since moving away from her formal design training several years ago, George has focused on pursuing a multidisciplinary art practice, using her love of colour, gradients and type to spread her uplifting messages.
Pre-Covid, George spent much of her time travelling from one project to another, rarely in one city for longer then a few months completing art commissions and projects for a diverse range of clients and festivals. She has worked with Fortnite, Disney, Instagram, Mastercard and Melbourne Central to name a few.
When not working on commercial projects, George has been busy on the global street art festival circuit painting at Shine Festival (USA), Bright Walls (USA), Sea Walls (Mexico), Colour Tumby (AU), Darwin Street Art Festival (AU), First Coat (AU), Kaaboo (USA), Perfect Match (AU), Roskilde (DNM), Street Prints (NZ), Tropica (Bali), Wallriors (Taiwan), Wall to Wall (AU) and Wonderwalls (AU).
George has proved herself to be one of Australia’s leading street artists, winning the 2020 Resene Total Colour Visual Art award, in 2019 she was awarded the “Best Mural” for the 2019 Street Art Australia Prize. Here's a look at her prints with Funkita.
