Carla Buchanan
In the last two years, 21-year-old Acacia Bayside swimmer Carla Buchanan was struck down twice by two different illnesses but still managed to be selected to swim for Australia at the 2016 World Short Course Championships in Windsor, Canada.
Carla is now back to full health and has her focus fixed on Tokyo 2020 where she hopes to represent Australia.

Madi Thompson
In her final year of high school, 17-year-old Pelican Waters Swim Club swimmer Madi Thompson is juggling the pressures of finishing school, completing 9 pool training sessions each week and the responsibilities of school captain. She travels over an hour from her home on Bribie Island to get to training and a further hour to school before repeating the journey in the afternoon. She raced her first Australian Open Short Course Championships in 2016 and her goal to swim at Tokyo 2020 will need all her determination and commitment to achieve.

Antonia is busy preparing for her fourth Australian Age Championships in just a few weeks and trains at Bond University Swimming Club alongside Olympians Cam McEvoy and Thomas Fraser-Holmes.
