Georgie Joins the F-Team!
Miami Swimming Club young gun Georgie Roper has joined the F-Team. What an amazing addition to our team of sponsored athletes! Georgie was a member of the Australian Junior Dolphins in 2022 who competed at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Hawaii and she came 5th in the 1500m Freestyle at the 2022 Australian Championships. We were lucky enough to grab her in between training sessions to ask her a few burning questions.
What are your Swimming goals this year?
To come top 3 in one of my events at the Australian Swimming Trials in 2024.
How about your Swimming goals for the next 5 years?
I would love to qualify for my first senior Australian team. I would love to compete at the Olympics, Commonwealth Games and World Aquatics Swimming Championships.
What motivates you to pursue these goals?
I am mostly intrinsically motivated, but the dream of being able to travel and represent Australia on the international stage is what I wake up and train for everyday.
Do you have any pre-race rituals that you swear by?
I always eat lasagne or ravioli the night before I race!
What meal do you love, but can't tell coach Richard Scarce you indulge in every now and then?
I really enjoy lasagne, but after I have finished competing, nothing beats some KFC and ice cream!

If you could compete anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
If I could compete anywhere in the world it would be in Greece because of the beaches and amazing scenery.
What are your main interests away from training and competing?
I really enjoy drawing and going to the beach.
Do your parents or siblings share any special sporting talents?
My brother swims and has been to two Age Nationals and is a two time QLD State LC medallist in the 400 Freestyle for his age group. My sister also swims and does nippers. Neither of my parents swum but my dad represented the Australian Junior soccer team and my mum competed at a state level for water polo and hockey.
