Jessica Cole joins the F-Team!

Funkita is excited to welcome NSW young gun Jessica Cole to the F-Team. Jessica recently swam her way onto the top 10 list of all-time fastest Australian 16-year-olds when she clocked a 59.65 in the 100 Fly at the 2023 Australian Age Champs in April.  Cracking swims at Age Champs helped the Wests Illawarra swimmer secured her spot on the World Junior Champs team that competed in Israel in September. We had a chance to catch up with Jess to find out what makes her tick.

What are your Swimming goals this year?
I want to focus on butterfly (100m & 200m) and I really want to win at Nationals and be selected on the Junior Pan Pacs team. I'd like to swim the 200m Fly sub 2.10 and the 100m Fly sub 59.

Sounds great! How about your Swimming goals for the next 5 years?
I'd really like to make a senior team for international meets like the Commonwealth Games, the Olympics and World Champs!

What motivates you to pursue these goals?
I always want to continually improve and I love a challenge. The satisfaction of getting good results as a result of hard work always motivates me.

Do you have any pre-race rituals that you swear by?
I always have Nutella and toast for breakfast and a few banana lollies just before race seems to do the trick.

What meal do you love, but can't tell your coach, Pat Stellino, you indulge in every now and then?
Definitely pizza followed by a rainbow Paddlepop!

If you could compete anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I'd have to say Hawaii. It's a favourite holiday destination and I love its laid back vibe.

What are your main interests away from training and competing?
Waterskiing, horse riding, motorbike riding, and hanging out with friends.

Do your parents or siblings share any special sporting talents?
My brother is a national swimmer but is soon to retire as he has to work.
