F-Teamer Charlotte Evans retires

We’re sad to announce the retirement of one of our favourite brand ambassadors and representatives, Charlotte Evans, from competitive swimming. Charlotte, who is 25 years old has decided to retire from competitive swimming. With the lead up to the Commonwealth Games she swam for several months with undiagnosed glandular fever and it was only on reflection she hadn’t factored in the repercussion of glandular fever on both mind and body.

For Charlotte, swimming was a thrilling and immersive escape from classrooms and education, she found a sense of agency and liberation. Swimming made her feel powerful not just physically, but also mentally resilient, allowing her to accomplish things she wouldn't have been able to do in a classroom.

Taking her sport to a competitive level, Charlotte dedicated more time to the pool and the gym. Before long, she was competing in championships in the UK and overseas. Finally, she was preparing for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, which was her final major competition.

Charlotte says, "The exhilaration and emotions of breaking a personal best, trumps all the preparation, practice and hard work. The sensation of accomplishing something for yourself – and surprising yourself is indescribable.”

Although Charlotte is retiring from competitive swimming, she plans to still wear her Funkitas with pride as she dips her toes into the world of recreational open water swimming and triathlon. She will still show off how positive the brand is for all women, whether during athlete life or after competitive swimming has finished. Charlotte has thoroughly enjoyed being a Funkita ambassador and is proud to support and influence other females.
