Barratt takes silver in Berlin

With the FINA World Short Course Championships just weeks away, the international swimming calendar is really heating up. The recent Berlin leg of the FINA World Cup kickstarted the international short course season, and 8 of our F-Teamers were amidst the action.

Australian Holly Barratt starred off the back of a stellar year which has seen her claim medals and awards for her sprinting prowess. The veteran from Western Australia only narrowly scraped through to the final of the Women's 50 Fly by 0.03 of a second, however, Barratt turned things up a notch in the evening to clock 25.39 and claim equal silver, alongside France's Melanie Henique.

Leah took her new Funkitas for a spin in Berlin

A handful of our UK F-Teamers were in action in Berlin. Leah Schlosshan, Imogen Clark, Honey Osrin, Georgie Pryor and Mia Slevin took to the pool in what proved to be some hot competition. Honey had the standout performance placing 12th in the Women's 200 Back; just over a second away from the final behind Dutchwoman Tessa Vermeulen who clocked 2:07.81 to place 8th in the prelims.

Also in action were Funkita athletes Emily Visagie of South Africa, and Julia Maik of Poland. Julia's efforts in the 100/200 fly double saw her fall just short of the finals, and Emily mixed it with the best in the breast and medley events. Hong Kong's Siobhan Haughey, USA's Beata Nelson, and Canadian Kylie Masse are atop the women's rankings post Leg #1.

Big trip to Berlin for South African Emily Visagie!

Now the swimming world shifts its attention to Toronto, with Leg #2 set to take place from October 28-30. Stay tuned to see our superstar Summer McIntosh compete at her home pool.
