WA 2022 Swimmer of the Year
Being a sprinter at the top level can be gut-wrenching as there is no margin for error. A faster final stroke has the potential to land you on the podium. Sprint queen, Holly Barratt, has made a name for herself both in Australia and around the world and hopes to find herself on top of the podium as she takes on the World Cup in Berlin this week.
Off the back of her stellar performances this year Holly has recently been crowned joint-winner of the Western Australian Swimmer of the Year Awards. This was alongside teammate and Dolphin debutant Keiran Pollard. This isn’t the first time Holly has received this honour, as she was also crowned the WASOTY back in 2019, the year that she broke the still-standing Australian record in the Women’s 50m Fly.

“It was really special to win swimmer of the year, especially because I shared the award with Keiran who was a rookie on the team this year,” Holly said. “It was a great way to finish off the season.” Despite being marginally off her best throughout the Australian Trials and Birmingham Commonwealth Games, she was still able to come away from Birmingham with a silver, a highlight for her 2022 season.
With quite a lot of international racing still on this year’s calendar, Holly isn’t done quite yet. “I am racing at the FINA World Cups this year starting on October 21 in Berlin. It’s such a fun series and I can’t wait to see my international friends”.
