2019 World Para Swimming Championships

The 2019 World Para Swimming Championships were held at the London Aquatics Centre from September 9th - 15th. It is the largest Para-Swimming championships outside of the Paralympic Games and this year saw nearly 600 swimmers from approximately 60 countries compete.

From one international competition to the next our hardworking and driven F-Team athletes have represented themselves and their country with exceptional success and sportsmanship. The World Para Champs was no exception with Lucky Patterson, Taylor Corry, and Katja Dedekind consistently surpassing not only the rigorous international competition, but several of their long-standing, personal best times.

Taylor Corry

Nelson Bay Swim Club member Taylor Corry has powered through World Champs winning bronze in the 4x100 S14 Mixed Free as well as smashing her PB in the 100 Fly. Corry was also a finalist in the 100 Back setting an Oceanic record, leaving her eager to get back into training for the year ahead.

Katja Dedekind

Staying true to her motto "swim fast and swim free," USC Spartan and Paralympian Katja raced in the finals of the S13 100 Back, 50, 100 Free. Racing against the fastest para swimmers in the world, Katja has proven that she continues to be a force to be reckoned with.

Lucky Patterson

Paralympian Lucky Patterson got straight to work in London, achieving several PBs from day 1. Whilst her two, well deserved finalist positions in the S9 100 Free and 200 IM are already phenomenal feats, this meet saw Lucky achieve the pinnacle; a gold medal and World Championship title in the 400 Free. Her focus will now be on the much-anticipated lead up to Tokyo 2020.

A massive congratulations to our outstanding F-Team athletes for their performances over the past week.
