WHIRLWIND WEEK OF RACING
The F-Team are diving into a busy week!
Christmas is just around the corner and while most people are getting prepped for holidays, the Funkita F-Team are getting set for a mammoth week of racing! With both Queensland State Championships and Victorian Age Championships kicking off in Australia this weekend, the Aussie F-Team have been training hard and avoiding festive treats in preparation. Across the water in South Africa, F-Teamers Taneal Baptise and Kiara Noades are hoping to secure a seat on the plane to the Commonwealth Games 2018.
Carla Buchanan is looking for podium success at QLD Champs.
After snatching herself a bronze medal at the Australian Short Course Champs in October, F-Teamer Carla Buchanan is gearing up for podium success at Queensland State Championships from December 9-15. Carla will race the 400m, 200m, 100m and 50m freestyle as well as the 200m individual medley.
Golden girl Sian Whittaker is hoping to take out the gold!
Going head to head against Carla in the freestyle events will be golden girl Sian Whittaker. The World Uni Games gold medal champion is also stepping up to the blocks to race the 200m and 100m backstroke and we can't wait to see her smash it out!
The St Peters Western girls are taking over Champs!
St Peters Western and World Junior Championship swimmers Shikira Matheson and Lydia Murray have a packed schedule ahead of them at Queensland Champs! The squad mates will put friendship to one side as they compete against one another in the 50m freestyle and the 400m individual medley. Both girls are also set to race across multiple events in their respective age groups. St Peters Western squad mate Michaela Ryan will battle it out with the girls in the 50m freestyle and the 400m individual medley. We're hoping for an F-Team 1,2,3!
Fellow Junior World Championship swimmer Sarah Beale is diving into multiple events, including the 200m breaststroke and 100m backstroke against Sian. Law graduate Aisling Scott will also take on the girls in the 100m back, as well as smashing it out in the 100m and 200m freestyle and the 100m and 200m breaststroke.
Funkita models Antonia Hurd and Madi Thompson are geared
Regular Funkita models and rising stars Antonia Hurd and Madi Thompson are aiming for podium glory, with Antonia juggling a busy week of racing. Antonia will be racing the 400m individual medley and 200m backstroke, as well as the girls 15 age 200m backstroke, 200m butterfly and 200m individual medley. Madi is coming straight from a gold medal win at Pacific School Games in the 100m breaststroke and is hoping to achieve the same success in the girls 17/18 age 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle.
In the South East of Australia the Victorian Age Championships are kicking off from December 10 - 15. Sophie Caldwell is lined up to fly through a packed week, including racing the 400m freestyle, the event she scored a bronze medal in at Youth Commonwealth Games earlier in the year. New F-Teamer on the block Lulu Macleod is also racing across multiple events as well as Keilani Trewavis.
Kiara Noades and UK Olympian Moly Renshaw met whilst Molly was on a training camp in South Africa.
On the other side of the world, South African F-Teamers Kiara Noades and Taneal Baptiste are hoping to book a seat on the plane to the Gold Coast as they compete for qualification at the South African Commonwealth Games Trials from December 16-22.
Having recently trained with UK F-Teamer and Olympian Molly Renshaw, Kiara Noades is aiming to join Molly on the Gold Coast as she competes across multiple events including the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke and both the 200m and 400m freestyle. Taneal will be going head to head with South Africa's best swimmers in the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle as well as both the 50m and 100m butterfly. We are wishing both girls the best of luck as they strive to gain a place on the team.
