Willmott Going for Gold (Coast)

F-Teamer and dual Olympian Aimee Willmott has had quite the year, claiming three medals at the British Championships; making the World Championship final for the women's 400m Individual Medley, and swimming all the way to an Olympic final in Rio 2016! After a short break, Aimee has her Funkitas back on and is in the pool and looking forward to the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018 as a Team England Ambassador.

"I am honoured to be named a Team England swimming ambassador in the run up to the Gold Coast in 2018. It's a great opportunity to help raise the profile of my sport and get as many people as possible hyped and supporting Team England," says the 23-year-old.

Aimee Willmott Team England ambassador for the Commonwealth Games

Team England's Athlete Ambassador Programme, spearheaded by former British Olympic Heptathlon champion Denise Lewis, is a 30 strong group of England's leading and rising sporting superstars. Along with fellow swimmer Ollie Hynd and diver Freddie Woodward, Aimee will work with Commonwealth Games England (CGE) to promote Team England, rally team spirit and get all athletes competition ready.

Swimming is in Aimee's blood and not satisfied with just being an ambassador, she's set her sights on qualifying to represent Team England in the pool as well.

"Everything is going really well with my preparation. I'm back into training after the Rio Olympics and the next big meet for me is the Gold Coast, so I'll be working hard and if everything goes to plan, hopefully I'll make the team," she says.

We have everything crossed that things go to plan too - bring on the Commonwealth Games!
