Break Out of your training blues with Blair
As the weather gets warmer and summer draws closer, the idea of returning to the pool becomes more and more enticing. However, as we all know that first session back in the water isn't always the nicest, especially after an indulgent break! Two time Olympian and silver medallist Blair Evans enjoyed a well-earned month out of the pool after Rio and shared with us her top tips for getting back in!
1. Set a definite date to get back in, it'll give you something to look forward to and prepare for!
2. Take it slow! There is no rush when it comes to swimming because it really is a sport for all ages to enjoy.
3. Get some funky new equipment, it's always exciting to have new things and want to try them! I love the first session in my new Funkitas and matching accessories!
4. Talk to your coach about your goals so they have a better understanding of your progress.
5. Warm up before a session, nothing worse than ending up with sore shoulders because you didn't stretch or activate properly.

Use Blair's tips to take the edge off of your first session back in the chlorine! If you're anything like Blair, you won't be able to stay on that training break for long.
"Swimming is what I love, and no one can stay away from what they love for too long. It's always hard coming back after a break - the lungs don't have enough oxygen, the arms are sluggish and the legs drag on the bottom of the pool but I secretly love the pain of getting fit again because as each session goes by you can feel the progress," she says.

Blair recommends focusing on the positive after that first gruelling session.
"After my first session back in the pool I felt incredibly tired and unfit! But, it's a satisfying feeling in a way. You've pushed yourself again for the first time in a long time and after some rest, you'll want to do it all over again," she says.
It's time to bite the bullet and jump in. You won't regret it, we promise!
