Broben Overcomes Injury for Rio
F-Teamer Brittany Broben was shaken by injury.
Funkita F-Teamer Brittany Broben's diving dream was plunged into doubt when the 20-year-old dislocated her shoulder during the 2016 Australian Open Diving Championships in May.
During the 10m platform final, Brittany tore tissue and dented a bone in her shoulder, leaving her devastated and unsure if she would compete in Rio.
"I don't think anyone would want to train hard for four years and then at the last hurdle have something like this happen. I could have chosen for it to break me, or for it to light the fire in my belly even more. It's a massive ask to do what I am trying to do, however I am doing my absolute best to able to stand on that platform in Rio and dive," she says.
Since the event, Brittany has been working with her team on rehab exercises to speed up the recovery process.
"Usually it takes months for something like this to heal but with help from my coaches and doctors we are trying to work hard to be able to push through."
Brittany has already seen an improvement, but is still experiencing a lot of pain and will continue to do so while she competes in Rio.
"That won't be changing anytime soon as I'm trying to put my body through an enormous challenge by diving off a 10m platform 8 weeks post dislocation."

Brittany wears Go Flamingo Funkitas.
At London 2012, then 16-year-old Brittany was the youngest Australian competitor where she won a silver medal in the 10m platform event.
"I couldn't believe it! I don't think it has sunk in that I will be a dual Olympian at the age of 20. I feel like I've worked double as hard this time round and I am beyond excited!"
Broben was clearly born for the sport, with her dare devil attitude ensuring she's always motivated to compete and train.
"I love the thrill of standing up there at a competition with everyone cheering for you. However, I've always said I love being able to do crazy things that not many people are able to say they do, like flipping off a 10m platform!"
We are looking forward to seeing Brittany conquer her injury and dive for her dream!
