Rabie pursues triathlon dream

F-Teamer Mari Rabie will compete for South Africa.

South African Funkita F-Teamer and triathlete Mari Rabie is elated to qualify for her Rio after a busy 2016 that has seen her travel to and race in nine countries including the USA, Mexico, New Zealand and Japan.

In the last race of the ITU World Triathlon Series before Rio, Mari raced in Hamburg, Germany and placed 8th with an impressive time of 58:03 - her first top ten result in the series. The distance for this event included a 750m swim, a 20km bike with a 5km run to finish.

Mari competed at Beijing 2008 but was disappointed with her result after experiencing technical problems on the bike leg of the race. Following the event, she took some time off and returned to international competition in 2010 and has built on her strengths since then.

As she gets closer to Rio, Mari keeps her philosophy simple.

"I focus on the process - what needs to be done in the next second, the next minute, the next hour and so one. That way, the end outcome takes care of itself. At the end of the day it's just another race. Keep it simple and don't overcomplicate it."

We wish Mari all the best for Rio and can't wait to watch her swim, bike and run against the best in the world!
