Faulkner Managing Rio Nerves

UK F-Teamer Ellie is ready to race in Rio.

Funkita athlete Ellie Faulkner knows the type of results that hard work and dedication can produce. The 23-year-old OIympian has been selected for the British swimming team in the 200m freestyle and is off to Rio after gaining experience at London 2012.

Ellie earned her spot on the team and a silver medal at the British Championships in Glasgow swimming a time of 1:58.05.

Ellie was just 19-years-old when she made the British team for London 2012 in the 800m freestyle. In 2014, she claimed the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in the 4 x 200m freestyle relay.

"I'm excited to go to Rio and do the best I possibly can. London was a bit of a shock for me because I wasn't expecting it so I'm looking forward to enjoying everything this time," she says.

Ellie will use her experience at London 2012 to manage her nerves for the 2016 installment in Rio.

"I get quite nervous before a competition, but now I've been to my first I know what the pressure is like. I think I'm going to be able to control them and hopefully race a lot better this time as well," she reveals.

As she counts down to competition, Ellie has been immersed in training with Team GB and is focused on making the most of the opportunity.

"My plan is to work hard, train hard, and bring the best out of myself in Rio."

We are looking forward to seeing Ellie race on the world stage!
