Four Funkettes Announced on Team GB

Congrats to our UK F-Teamers!

Here at Funkita HQ we are celebrating four of our British F-Teamers booking a spot on the plane for Team GB to the Rio Olympics! Aimee Willmott, Molly Renshaw, Ellie Faulkner and Georgia Coates were officially announced as part of the 26-strong Team GB after their awesome results at the recent British Swimming Championships in Glasgow.

Aimee Willmott

Well done Aimee on qualifying for your second Olympics.

Aimee Willmott qualified for her second Olympics after she claimed silver with a time of 4.35.52 in the 400m IM. Having made her debut at London 2012 where she narrowly missed out on a spot in the final, Aimee is determined to go one better in 2016. The 23-year-old, whose dad Stuart is a former Olympian, won two silver medals in the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Molly Renshaw

19 year old Molly Renshaw will make her Olympic debut in Rio.

Molly Renshaw swam an incredible PB of 2.23.56 in her 200m breast to claim the silver medal and a spot on them. The 19-year-old will debut in Rio having narrowly missed out on Olympic selection four years ago.

Georgia Coates and Ellie Faulkner

Congratulations Georgia and Ellie!

Meanwhile City of Sheffield swimmer Ellie Faulkner swam a 1.58.05 in the 200m freestyle closely followed by fellow funkette Georgia Coates in 1.58.54 to claim the silver and bronze respectively and earn their spots on the team. Ellie swam the 800 freestyle in the London Olympics so will be making her second Olympics appearance, swimming a quarter of the distance. Georgia has topped of an incredible year with her selection on the team after medals at World Junior Championships and the European Championships. The 17-year-old from the City of Leeds Swimming Club is the youngest member of the team.

It is so exciting to see the girls heading to Rio and we'll keep you updated on their training over the months ahead.

Go girls!!
