A day in the life of an Olympian
At the 2012 London Olympics, Manly Surf Lifesaver Murray Stewart won gold as part of the men's K4 team in the 1000 metres event. Murray grew up paddling, his Dad was a top paddler in South Africa and Murray won national surf lifesaving medals as a junior on his surf ski. He started kayaking in 2005 and despite setbacks with injury and illness (at one point he competed in the World Championships with a burst appendix) he progressed up the world rankings. His K4 team has committed to attempt a defense of their title in the 2016 Olympics. For Murray it will be a busy few years - rigorous training, recovery, work (now that he has completed his Masters of Architecture), and married life. Murray took us through a week in his life, and yes it was the week he got married. Congratulations Murray!
