Amber Bourke
Funkita athlete, Amber Bourke is a competitive freediver - underwater diving without the aid of any kind of scuba gear. It's a sport that tests the mental and physical capabilities of the athlete to hold their breath for what seems like an eternity. The current men's world record for a no fins dive is 218 metres underwater in the pool!
Before she switched to freediving, Amber was a member of the Australian synchronised swim team, so being underwater is something she knows well. Though relatively new to the sport, Amber recently broke two national records.
Check out this amazing video of her in action.

Amber held her breath and swam 155 metres without fins and then backed it up to swim 181 metres underwater with fins. Amber already has her mind set on breaking another freediving record, and she's just 8 metres shy of success.
For someone who's first memory of swimming is snorkeling with reef sharks at Lord Howe Island, aged 4, freediving comes surprisingly naturally.
Go for it Amber, you take our breath away!!
